Professor Yang Zhang

Department of Marine, Earth, and Atmospheric Science, North Carolina State University

Professor Zhang is serving in the Department of Marine, Earth, and Atmospheric Science, North Carolina State University. She specializes in numerical modeling and theoretical study of atmospheric chemistry/air quality engineering. She contributed to the development, improvement, application, and evaluation of many models, including STEM III, GChM, MIRAGE, SCICHEM, CMAQ, CMAQ-MADRID, CAMx, MM5, WRF, WRF/Chem, and CESM/CAM5. She also incorporated MADRID aerosol module into CMAQ and WRF/Chem, led the development of a full-coupled global-through-urban WRF/Chem (GU-WRF/Chem), as well as the development and application of an Earth system model based on CESM. Dr. Yang Zhang uses models to study long range transport of dust and its interactions with tropospheric chemistry, formation and fate of tropospheric ozone and aerosol, power plant plume chemistry, visibility, cloud microphysics, global aerosol direct and indirect radiative forcing, feedbacks, among chemistry, aerosol, cloud, radiation, and climate on regional and global scales.

Please review her URL to get more information. It is a great honor to invite her to visit our RCEC Academic Sinica. Because of time limit, the presentation she will give can only cover a small part of her research: TDM (an energy model), CESM, WRF/Chem, BenMAP-CE (a health model), and ROMS (a regional ocean model). But she welcomes anyone who is interested in her research come to discuss with her.
